Institute for Chemical Processing of Coal, Zabrze, Poland
Field covered by study visit: research in thermal process and fossil fuels technologies
When: 1 st year of studies, organizing institution: Silesian University of Technology/AGH, duration: 1 day
Website: http://www.ichpw.pl/en/
The Institute is located in Zabrze, participates in the realization of research projects of priority importance to economy, which are dedicated to the efficient use of fossil, renewable and alternative fuels. The competences of the Institute are focused on thermal processing of various fuels by means of gasification, pyrolysis and combustion.
Mission of this institute is to deliver the innovative knowledge and technologies supporting carbochemical, power generation, mining and waste processing industries ensuring the efficient use of fossil, renewable and alternative fuels.
The Institute’s goal to become a leading center of innovative technologies, is being successively realized by its professional and highly qualified staff, able to compete at European market in the fields of fuels thermal processing as well as feedstock and products properties analyses and selection. ICHW hosts the Center of Clean Coal Technologies which is equipped with the most advances in the World tests stands and laboratory units.
Study visit will give students opportunity to see the most advanced research center dealing with different thermal process. This would also benefit in better understanding of chances and threads for the environment of using fossil fuels. It could also show the possible range of changes in the future in relevant issues.
