Case teaching implementation at SUT

Case teaching is an important part of pedagogical evolution process carried out in Clean Fossil and Alternative Fuel Energy program and in partner universities. The goal is to increase teaching efficiency and make pedagogy better in order to support skills and competencies delivery to our students. Case method is ideal to combine expert knowledge with business and management skills. This is part of multidimensional thinking shaping which is essential for contemporary engineers. Methodology was successfully tested and implemented in many top universities in the wold including Harvard or Stanford. Following those examples now it is time to make implementation in universities participating in Innoenergy Master School. On January 4th was organized first case teaching session was organized at Silesian University.  The case was titled: IMPLEMENTATION IN A HEATING PLANT THE INTEGRATED BIOMASS GASIFICATION COGENERATION BLOCK. It was built and performed by prof. Jacek Kalina. The time of performance was 4 hours. The process of building new cases is commencing and is well advanced. We plan to implement case teaching method in majority of modules in our program.
